Zaida Cintron

Dr. Zaida Cintron is a linguist with a passion for education and its transformative potential. She specializes in such areas as multiculturalism in the classroom and school, study and reading skills, literacy, and ESL/bilingual methods. She has vast experience teaching English and English as a Second Language at all grade and proficiency levels in public and private schools, and has held both faculty and administrator positions at several universities in the Chicago area as well as in her native Puerto Rico. Fascination with languages and cultures has made her an avid traveler. Zaida has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Northwestern University, an M.A. in TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. in Humanities in English and French from the University of Puerto Rico. She has presented papers, workshops, and trainings in the US, France, Italy, Puerto Rico, Curaçao, Panama, and Mexico, among other countries. She is past president of the National Association for Bilingual Education as well as the Illinois Association for Multilingual Multicultural Education. Zaida is the eternal learner and wishes to share that passion with everyone she meets.
