Effective Instruction

The fluent, consistent, widespread use of research-based instructional strategies is what differs highly effective schools from those that are not achieving the desired results. Angela’s work with instructional strategies encompasses the work of Robert Marzano, John Hattie, Mike Schmoker, Doug Reeves, and other notable experts in this area.

A key component effective formative assessment is the feedback that is given to students between assessment events. Angela assists teachers in examining and refining the various forms of formative assessment they use and the feedback they provide. Another area of exploration is equitable, effective forms of grading student work.

Well-designed units composed of well-sequenced lessons drive student learning. Angela can assist teachers with developing engaging, rigorous units based on a backwards design model. She can also support teachers in designing and implementing briskly paced, highly engaging, standards-aligned lessons.
